The Layers tab controls the display of the layers on the map. Click on/off the checkbox to the left of the layer name to change the display. You can also choose to individually display/hide the legend for a layer or for all layers by clicking on the on the or icons. The display/hide of layers associated with a group layer are controlled with the and icons.

Access to Metadata associated with a specific map layer as well as the legend is available by clicking on the layer name. The legend and a link to the metadata will be displayed in the the Results Window. If metadata was not assigned to a map layer then just the legend will display.

Note: A layer may be checked on but will not display on the Map. This will occur if the scale dependent viewing was set by the MapOptix System Administrator. The layer will display by zooming in or out on the Map.

Note: Some map layers are specified as Base Layers by the MapOptix System Administrator. Base layers are typically those familiar and more common layers like a coastline or lakes. These layers will display in the Map but not in the legend.

Query Tab

The Query Tab is used to enter tabular queries. The MapOptix System Administrator defines the Query form and fields.

Query Form

When more than one query is available in the current profile a list of the available queries like the one shown below is displayed. Click on a query in the list and then submit the button to use the query.

Enter query criteria in one or more of the fields in the query input form. Records that satisfy the specified query criteria will be displayed in the Results Window. The "Selection" drop down list allows the user to select what type of selection operation the query will perfom: New, Add, Remove, or Subselect. The icons at the top of the query form allow users to change the query form if more than one is available or manage stored queries for the query form.

Change Query: This brings up the “Choose a Query” screen. This only displays when more than one query is defined in the current profile.

Manage Stored Queries: This brings up the “Manage Stored Queries” screen. This screen allows the user to manage and store multiple saved queries for each query form.

Buffer Tab

The Buffer Tab is used to buffer a selected feature or features using the parameters specified to select other features either on the same layer or on another layer. The selected feature(s) can be from the result of an Identify action or a Selection Set.

The MapOptix System Administrator defines buffer selections options including the selection layers and preset available distances. The "Selection" drop down list allows the user to select what type of selection operation the query will perfom: New, Add, Remove, or Subselect.

My Map Tab

The My Map Tab contains several different ways for a user to personalize their map experience.

Projects allow a user to save the current state of the mapping interface. This includes persisting the visible layers, current extent, and active toolsets. The user can save and load multiple projects for each site and profile.

Bookmarks

Bookmarks allow a user to save the current extent of a map to a named bookmark. This allows for quick and easy navigation to locations and extents that are viewed often. The user can save and load multiple bookmarks for each site and profile.

Markup

The markup allows a user to add various graphics and text to the map. The markup is only saved to the current user session, but can be saved to a hardcopy using the "Print Map" option.
